Good morning Celebrators! How are you? How is life finding you?
I love that question: How Is Life Finding You?
When I sit down to write a blog post, on many occasions, I'm not really sure where my scribbling will take me, and despite starting with a fairly generic title, most of the time, I just let the words flow and see where they take me. Today, they -and life- are leading me by the hand to question Life Itself!
Queue ominous music as I attempt to solve all life's riddles in less than 500 words!
But, seriously... Ask yourself How Life Finds You?
Yesterday I had the pleasure of delivering a Celebration of Life on behalf of a very dear friend for her recently deceased husband, and as I stood among the mele of people gathered together to talk about this man's many skills, attributes and achievements, a slideshow of images floated into focus that reinforced the conversations being held. Some of us paused to remember where they were when each image was taken, some gently wept, some smiled and internally reminisced. Many laughed.
The face of this wonderful friend smiled hundreds of times as he stood with friends and family in this beautiful collection of images and shone with pride as he'd clearly immersed himself in each moment.
It has left me thinking that life didn't find him, he found it. And, although his life was cut short, it is certain that he lived his life well and enjoyed many, many moments, carving himself a very unique place in life's tapestry.
So, when asked 'how life finds us' perhaps we should be really prepared to answer that. Are we living in moments, are we truly appreciative of each breath we take and who we share them with. What will our 'slideshow' look like? I've always said that my own epitaph isn't going to extol my skills in Excel spreadsheets, but what might it say?
My parting thoughts on this early spring morning are quite simple: be grateful for every moment life gives: eat good food that you enjoy; walk the long way round; take the stairs and listen to your breath and body as you breathe deeper and your legs work harder... Make yourself present and force life to look for you.
Peace out people. Love You Lots
